Class Six The generative impulse is the Roman world. The twelve year old child is at a cross road between imagination, myths and legends of former years to the development of the intellect. The Romans emphasised law, order and consequences. The rights and responsibilitesof the individual and the right to be heard by each citizen at a fair trial. The student is able to delve into subjects on a deeper level, building on skills learnt in previous years. English lessons include composition, history of literature, grammar, rules, reporting and recording, poems and poetry. Maths includes geometry, ratio and proportion, percentage, maths in engneering and geometric constructions. Science focuses on geology reproductiona and biology. HSIE teaches about the countries of the world, ocean studies, the rise and fall of the Roman empire, nutrition and hygiene. Sports include abseiling, swimming, gymnastics, orienteering, athletics,circus games and ball games. Visual Art includes watercolour painting, sheet metal relief and pencil sketching. Performing Art includes dancing, song writing and drama. Craft lessons cover wood carving, mosaic making, felting boots, vest or hat. Technical and Practical lessons include constructing/ preserving natural habitat, water features, gardening, flower garden making, photography, first aid, bread baking and sewing machine work. |
