English subjects in Class one include the capital alphabet, letter combinations,
speech and foreign languages. Maths in Class one covers counting, the
four operations, equations and games. Science lessons introduce basic
mechanics, the four elements (fire, air, earth and water), plant stories
and basic rock studies.
Human Society and its environment (HSIE) lessons look at local geography,
the four temperaments and aboriginal stories. The children study colour
harmony through drawing and wet on wet painting. Craft activities include
hand stitching, knitting, felting, weaving, wax modeling and clay work.
Sports lessons include skipping, running, climbing, throwing and catching.
Children are taught recorder and learn songs that are linked to the
seasons, the local history and to the main lessons.
Students prepare and perform at least one drama production each year.
